Using quality materials available from AMAW, even a novice can assemble a quiver of arrows, customized for his or her own bow and shooting style. Listed below are the raw materials needed to make your own, as well as Allegheny's line of complete finished arrows. RAW SHAFTS Matched Dozens: When we sell shafts or arrows by the dozen, we match within 5 lb of spine weight and +/- 10 grains of physical weight. We believe this is the only way to ensure good consistent arrow flight from your bow. If you are not sure of what you need, send us one of your arrows. Tapered Shafts: Produces a more forgiving arrow. Made and matched for you on a custom order basis. Tapered to 5/16 on the nock end with a computer controlled lathe. Add $10 to dozen prices. Custom tapering also available, i.e. barreled, breasted. Call for pricing.   LAMINATED BIRCH -Straight, strong hardwood shafting with a consistency and stability not seen in hardwoods before.                           SIZE - 11/32  60-80#, 21/64 55-60#, 5/16 50-55# ASH - Straight grained, stains easily, prominent grain lines -They aren't indestructible but after you hit a few rocks and trees without destroying any arrows, you will begin to think they are.                                           SIZE-11/32 up to 75#     SIZE-23/64 75# &over DOUGLAS FIR - Doug Fir, when straight grained, makes a good arrow shaft. It is lighter than hardwoods and more durable than cedar.      SIZE-23/64 PORT ORFORD CEDAR - A clear yellowish white wood with a straight medium grain, good strength and relatively light weight. Great cedar aroma!       SIZE-11/32 PURPLE HEART - This exotic South American hardwood is of medium weight with good stiffness and a beatiful purple color that can darken with age.       SIZE-11/32 HICKORY - Tough as nails, with mass weight for good penetration.   SIZE- 11/32 MAPLE, YELLOW BIRCH,POPLAR, CHERRY - We also make shafting out of these materials on a limited basis.  Please call for information.
